Faith Lutheran has a very active global ministry. We believe that all of our members are disciples in their community and the world.

In 2007, Faith Lutheran started a new partnership ministry with schools in the upper west district of Ghana, Africa. So far, Faith Lutheran Church with the help of Mr. George Guri, Coordinator of the Upper West Science Foundation in Ghana, has been able to provide basic education and school materials for more than 30 children. In fact, Faith’s partnership with the Foundation recently made the local news in Ghana! In an interview, our partner Mr. Guri mentioned our Church as assisting vulnerable children at the basic level of education in the district. He appealed to parents to support the education of their children so that they would grow up to become responsible adults who could contribute to the development of the country.

The article also told the following story:  “Madam Tumwin Mara, who was fostering four of her sister's children, said her brother-in-law died four years ago, after which her sister sent the children into her care and migrated south for greener pastures and had since not contacted her. ‘I am finding it difficult to share the little food for the house among my own children and my sister's children because my husband and I are also poor,’ Madam Mara said. ‘The assistance from the church has brought a great relief to me and my husband and we are grateful to the church,’ she added. Madam Mara said many parents in the district are needy and could not buy the basic school items, resulting in the high drop out rate of children at the basic level of education. Some of the children aspired to become doctors, lawyers, soldiers and teachers and thanked the church for 'helping them along the way'.”

Faith Lutheran is committed to fighting illiteracy and providing education to as many children as possible in Ghana.  A donation in any amount would be greatly appreciated, however, an individual child can be sponsored for $135 for an entire school year.  This amount includes uniforms, books and all of the necessary school supplies.  If you are interested in joining Faith in this cause, you can send a check made payable to “Faith Lutheran Church” to P.O.
